How to delete all the synced Windows 8/RT settings from Microsoft account
Windows 8 includes an awesome features which lets you sync all your device’s settings like Personalization, wallpapers, Start Screen colors/patterns, internet history, app password and configurations across all your Windows 8/RT devices through your Microsoft account. This awesome feature is very useful for the people who want to get same settings across all devices whether it’s a desktop, laptop or tablet.
Although, the option to sync your settings across your Windows 8/RT devices through Microsoft account is up to you and you can choose whether to sync or not. You can also select what is synced between all your devices but, once synced there is not an option to delete the synced settings from your Microsoft account unless you know the right place to delete all the synced settings.
The good news is that you can now delete the synced settings from your Microsoft account which would stop the syncing of settings across all your Windows 8/RT devices. Therefore, if you don’t like specific settings from your Microsoft Account to be synced you can remove that from the cloud and it won’t sync to any of your device anymore.
How the synced settings will be deleted?
All the syncing is done through your Microsoft account and that account, if used to login to Windows 8/RT devices with sync enabled will sync all your settings from your one device to another. All the sync files are stored to your SkyDrive account which means if, you delete the settings from sync then, your settings will stop syncing across devices.
So, if you are one of the people who would like to delete your Windows 8/RT’s synced settings from SkyDrive then, you are at the right place. Just follow the instructions below to delete all your sync settings from SkyDrive.
Before proceeding to the instructions, you must disable the sync which is enabled on all your Microsoft account connected Windows 8/RT devices. Otherwise, the settings will sync again in a matter of minutes and there won’t be any use of deleting.
Disabling the Sync:
- First of all, open up the ‘PC Settings’ by pressing ‘Windows key + I’ or swiping from right and selecting ‘Settings’. Your ‘Settings’ Charm will open. Here press ‘Change PC Settings’ from the end of Charm Bar.
- Your ‘PC Settings’ app will open. Here go to the ‘Sync your settings’ tab and disable the first option named ‘Sync settings on this PC’ by moving the slider switch to left which will turn off all the other options as well.
- That’s all! Your settings syncing has been disabled.
Note: You will have to repeat the above procedure on all your Windows 8/RT devices to completely stop the settings to be synced.

Instructions:
- Once you have stopped syncing of settings from all your Windows 8/RT devices, go to this link:
- You would get the option of ‘Delete your personal settings from the cloud’. Here press ‘Remove’ button to delete all your settings.
- You would be showed a pop-up message asking ‘Are you sure you want to remove your system and app settings from cloud’. Press ‘Yes’.
- You would be taken to the next page where you would be showed that ‘Your Personal settings have been deleted from the cloud’.
- That’s all! Your settings have been deleted from your Microsoft account and you won’t get the settings synced to your Windows 8/RT devices.
