We have seen many awesome YouTube apps in Store like the MetroTube and the Tube Download but, all of the apps in Store are missing one or another feature. Some of the apps include the features to view videos, rate and comment on them whereas, others include the options to download videos for free and customize home screens.

But, one thing which I noticed in all of the apps, in-fact, the official YouTube YouTube apps for Android, iOS and Windows Phone (not Windows 8 since no official app is available yet) lets you play videos but, if you go to explore other videos then, the video being played will stop playing.

The YouTube web interface also doesn’t allow exploring and searching other videos while playing a single one unless you are using multiple-tabs. I really miss that multi-tasking feature in which I can view one song while searching for others but, it couldn’t be found anywhere until I found an awesome Windows 8/RT app.

Unlike earlier versions of Windows OS, Windows 8 doesn’t offer easier way to Shutdown, Restart and Logoff. Windows predecessor’s Shutdown, Restart and Logoff button are included under Start menu options. While in Windows 8, to Power Off, Restart or Logoff your system, you need to perform certain steps. Go to charms bar, then to settings and next power. Here itself you can Shutdown or Restart your PC. The tutorial here puts an easy way to do these operations with just one click in Windows 8.

To perform Shutdown, Restart or Logoff Windows 8 in one click we need to create shortcuts for the operations.

Steps to Create shortcuts for Shutdown, Restart and Logoff

• Go to Desktop and right click on it
• From the right click context menu, select New > Shortcut
• In create shortcut window, under field location type the respective commands to perform the following the actions as given below

• To create shortcut for “Shutdown” type:
  C:\Windows\System32\cmd.exe /C C:\Windows\System32\shutdown.exe /s /t 0
  and hit “Next”
• To create shortcut for “Restart” type:
  C:\Windows\System32\cmd.exe /C C:\Windows\System32\shutdown.exe /r /t 0
• To create shortcut for “LogOff” type:
  C:\Windows\System32\cmd.exe /C C:\Windows\System32\shutdown.exe /l
• Next, assign a name for the shortcut and click Finish button

When the shortcut is created, right click on it and select Properties

• In shortcut’s properties, click on shortcut tab and select Change Icon

• Now, click on Browse at the right of Look for icons in this file box
• Next, navigate to “C:\Windows\System32″ folder and open “shell32.dll” file
  

• Choose an Icon from the list of available icons as the icon for the newly created shortcut and hit OK

Close all shortcut properties window. Now your shortcut is ready to use. You can now place your shortcut button anywhere you want or pin it to the taskbar or start screen or to start wherever you find it is useful or easier to use or access. To pin the shortcut, right click on it and select Pin to taskbar or simply drag and drop the shortcut to taskbar.

Next type schedule tasks in search and click on the schedule tasks result, to open the Task Scheduler.

Under Action, select Create Task. Give the task a name. I have given it SpeakTime.

Set the Trigger parameters as shown in the image. One time – Start date & time, Repeat task every 1 hour, Duration – Indefinitely, and so on.

Under Actions, click New button. The New Action box will open. Select the action Start a program and browse to the vbs file to set the path.

You may change the change some parameters under the Conditions and Settings tabs – else you may leave them at their defaults.

Click OK and Exit.

Now every hour, Windows or rather Microsoft David will speak out the time to you…11…12…! If you don’t like Microsoft David, you may opt to hear the voice of Microsoft Hazel or Microsoft Zira instead, via Control Panel > Text to Speech tab under Speech Properties.

This will of course work on Windows 7 and earlier versions too.

HindiWriter is a freeware which allows you to type in the Hindi language without installing new fonts or memorizing a special Hindi keyboard layout. • The program will now convert your English words to Hindi as you type.  It has its own HindiWriter keyboard map which you can see just by clicking on the ‘question mark’ on the bottom right of your window.
• Press Shift+PauseBreak again to go back to English.
