Buying a high-end smartphone with the latest high-end processor and the other quality internal hardware isn’t enough feel your phone’s performance, because you might be stuffing a lot of stuff into the background and slowing down the device so much that the phone isn’t able to handle the multitasking and heavy apps at ease. In order to improve performance, you need to use some management apps which take care of most of the processes and apps to make your phone work smoother.
One really good app in this category, which helps boost the speed of Android smartphones, is DU Speed Booster, which has a wide range of features. It doesn’t only kill inactive apps or processes, but in fact does a lot to improve your phone’s performance. Let’s dig into the details to see what’s offered by the app.
Scoring and Optimizing: There’s a direct way to check the score of your entire smartphone. Once the app assesses everything, a specific score is given out of 100, and you can then choose to Optimize with a single tap when the app says that optimization is needed. This is an overall calculator of performance, so you don’t have to manually check for problems in each area.

Accelerator – To help your phone maintain top speed
The accelerator shows you the current running processes, and the apps that auto-start. For rooted phones, you can freeze the app manager and free up memory in the device. The process manager shows how much memory is free and how many processes need to be cleared in order to free more memory. The number of slow down issues are displayed, and the “Accelerate” button can speed up your device in a single tap.
Trash Cleaner – To clean the cache and residual files
The trash cleaner section shows you what percentage of trash files, apps, residual system files, compressed files, and more are present in your phone’s internal storage as well as in its SD card. The Cache cleaner in it cleans the trash left by apps and you can choose to either remove the cache for individual apps, or for all apps at once.

Just like most other Application managers, DU Speed Booster’s manager section comes with a list of the applications installed in your phone, and you can choose to uninstall/manage the apps individually or multiple apps at once. There’s also a separate section for System pre-installed apps (bloatware) which are not directly shown in many app managers, and here you can choose to delete pre-installed apps. This is a great function, because you usually need to root your phone to be able to do this.
There’s also an option for moving apps to the SD card, in which you are given information about which apps can be transferred from the internal storage to the SD card. You can move apps to SD right away if there’s less space available internally.
Game Booster – Speed up your Android games
This is one of the best original features in DU Speed Booster, which helps make your games run faster. The app automatically detects and lists games that can be sped up, or you can manually select games one-by-one. The app then allocates the system resources in such a way that the game operation is detected and improved, thus benefiting your frames-per-second graphics output.
Security – Permissions, Call & SMS Blacklist
The DU Security feature has quite a lot of functions. Not only does it keep your phone safe from viruses, but it also includes very useful options like Contact Blocking (Calls & SMS), the ability to check the permissions for each app, and the ability to disable any apps if they pose any threat to the security of your phone.
The Permission Manager shows you which apps have certain permissions; i.e. the apps that can make calls, those that can read messages, those that can use location services, etc. You can delete any app that you feel is using permissions that it shouldn’t have.
Call & SMS Blocker allows you to add contacts to blacklist, and then you can see which calls and SMS’es are blocked by the app, if you wanted to check.
Battery Saver
This feature again negates the need to use a dedicated app for saving battery life in your smartphone. The app shows how much the usage time can be extended, if the user enables the battery saver. There are no special features apart from the enabling/disabling options but it does what it is supposed to – enhance the usage time.
The settings section and the spaceship
The settings area doesn’t have many options, because whatever you wanted was already there in the big list of services in the app. However, from Setings you can place widgets on the home screen or plce a Quick Switch widget with a floating window which can display on every screen or just on the home screen. The floating window not only gives you the ability to conveniently speed up the system, but also includes shortcuts to connectivity options such as Wi-Fi, Data Network, Ringtones, Brightness, etc.
There’s also a beautiful spaceship option, which upon lauching on a particular place on the screen triggers DU Speed Booster to clean up the processes and make the device faster than it is currently. The spaceship launches, and it shows you how many processes were killed and how much RAM was freed up, but you cannot delete the residual and trash files using this option.
Overall, DU Speed Booster is a pretty brilliant way to make your phone free of everything you don’t want but had no easy way to clean, and it also lets you easily free up RAM by killing current processes that are running in the background.
