Windows 8 comes with many features that were not availed in its earlier version. The lock screen, start screen, etc. have been grabbing a lot of users attention since its launch. By default Windows 8 comes with a feature to lock down your system after waking up from sleep mode. In case you don’t find your Windows 8 password protecting after waking up from Sleep mode, here is the tutorial how you can enable the feature back in Windows 8.

Steps to Enable Password Protection on Resuming Windows from Sleep

  • Press Windows key + C to open charms bar and search for Control Panel or hit the Control panel tile on Start screen and open it
  • Open Control Panel in icons view and select Power Options

  • In the left pane of Power Options window, click on Require a password on Wake up link

  • In the system settings window, click on Change Setting that are currently unavailable link
  • Under password protection on wake up, click the radio button stating Require a Password (recommended)and hit the Save Changes button to apply the changes.

That’s all. You can now lock screen and see the changes effect. You will be asked to unlock screen using password (set password).
If you are a lone user for your PC, then password protecting or lock screen after sleep can be really irritating as it requires password to unlock the system and access it back. If you want to disable password at lock screen or after resuming Windows after sleep, you can follow the same procedures but select Don’t require Passwordand you are good to go. You can easily access your system without any hassle of entering you password each time your system enters sleep mode. However, it is recommended to password protect system on resuming Windows after Sleep Mode.
