Windows 8.1, the update for Windows 8 would be getting a lot of new and improved features. Windows 8.1 is scheduled to be launched as a preview on June 26, 2013 during the Build Conference but, now, a new report suggests that Windows 8.1 update would be released as a final product on August 1 for public.
Paul Thurrott, a journalist with focus on Microsoft and also a reliable source of Microsoft related news reports that Windows 8.1 would be released as a final version on August 1, 2013.
For those of you might be wondering, the date in the tweet is the US August 1st not, the European January 1 since, Thurrott belongs to America and Microsoft headquarters are also located in US.
Another thing to notice is the source which Thurrott mentioned to be a ‘little close to the matter’ which means that the August 1 launch date for final version of Windows 8.1 is suggested to be among the options for release date.
Windows 8.1 update for Windows 8 would be getting a lot of features like Start Button on desktop, more customizable Start Screen, new tile sizes along with new apps and many more. Windows 8.1 would be available as a free update for all Windows 8 users and users would be notified by Windows when the update is available and you would be taken to Windows Store where the downloaded can be started.
